Senseless Desire Edit

I feel that it was wrong what they did and seeing that picture of the girl being hung because she wanted to cover herself is wrong. I have a strong opinion on that because it makes no sense. There is no reason to hung by your ankle because you want to cover up. The whole crew on the boast had been fully clothes and the slaves were the only ones naked. Like seriously how is that fair?--Daisya 19:00, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Anything the captain says Edit

I feel that its wrong that people were useing Africans as slaves, they were all humans so they should be treated the same as others. What I lerand about the picture that I wrote about was that the saliors did anything that the captian told them to do and if a slave didnt do what they were told they were killed.--Dahianag 19:00, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

I agree to what you said it is wrong that the people were useing Africans as slaves and it is also ture that slaves should be treated equal and not like they no body. i agree with you.--Elizabethg 14:24, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

Slaves were treated so poorly, how could someone possibly sell another human being?

My Thoughts on The Pictures of Slavery Edit

I agree about how you think about the slavery pictures.

Why use slaves? Edit

I think slavery was cruel. How they treated and tourtured the people even hurts me when I think about it. Now that I'm learning more about slavery I see how easy I have it in life. This has had a great impact on the world and teens like myself. Learning about slavery has made me appriciate the freedom I have.--Elizabethv 19:01, 26 April 2006 (UTC) I agree with what you said cause it really does hurt to see what the slaves went thrue and then we think that kno we have bad but as you said we do have it good i life well way better then the slaves did. I also agree when you said that slavery has made a big impact on the world.--Kevinn 14:26, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

Slavery Edit

I think that this was a waste of time. ok i feel bad for the woman and all the people that were getting branded or burned, but we cant do anything now so whats the point of us caring. Slaves went thruogh alot back then and now is that we take all this time trying to figure out why. Thats messed up. Why do we care now ? why couldnt they care about this before? why all the attention to slaves now when it all ended? --Doloresa 19:01, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Taty's Opinion Edit

My picture was about a teen slave girl getting put upside down and being grabbed by a rope that was sustained by a white man. I feel kind of bad for African women because they had to do what they were told to do. It's like they couldn't do nothing they wanted to do for themselves.

Punishment Edit

The image that i just finished looking at is very strong. It shows all the details about slaves were treated in the 16th Century.--Anaism 13:31, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Well Edit

As i look at the women i wonder if she has family and what would they say if they saw that she is noe branded and belongs to some one.--Rubyo 14:27, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

Feel kinda bad Edit

I feel kinda bad for the African ladies because they had to do what they were told to do.Is like they couldn't do nothing they wanted to do for themselfs. Women are more fragile and they have kids and they have to see their kids doing work too. --Elizabethg 13:31, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Slavary in P.R. and D.R. Edit

I did not know that there was slaves in puerto Rico and didn't know that this happened for many years.

Disappointed Edit

The way I feel about what I wrote about is disapointed that african americans had to go through slavery and they had to live the way that they did because it is not right for any one to live like that, that is wrong.--Johnb 13:32, 27 April 2006 (UTC) Omg how you right, i was dissapointed? lol, but any ways i think what you wrote was profound to you as an african american boy.

Reflecting On 1929 Newpaper Headline Edit

Slave Traders Edit

I think that those papers they used to show people that slaves were up for sell was wrong. I learned how this paper was used during the slavetrading times and what they did in the Triangular Trade. If I were one of the slavetraders I would buy as many slaves as I can and let them go free.

--Juliob@eschs.org 13:32, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Mixed Blood Edit

What I feel about this picture is that people really need to know what they have inside of them and how people were treated back then. That people always were determined about what they were going to do and how they did it. What impact this has in my life is that people are still racist til this day. This matters to me because people that are black are my friends and my family and it hurts me as much as it hurts them because they mean something to me and to me they are also a part of me. --AshleyN 13:33, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

I feel that what you said is very true. And it's sad how they were treated.--Anaism 14:26, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

My Opinion Edit

I feel that the pic's I saw was really graphic and sad because just from looking at the pic's I can see what they had gone throught and how they were feeling about it all. I thought it was messed up how they do trades to get more slaves.--AkA JeNjEn 14:26, 27 April 2006 (UTC)Jenniferm

This stuff was okay Edit

I learned alot of stuff on this topic today. I learned about the Triangular Trade and how they were able 2 obtain slaves and money. I also learned that there was slavery in the Caribbean and in Barbados. I never knew that. And plus I didn't know that black people could purchase products from slaves. That's crazy. But itz a good thing that I learned all of this. Its just like I learned more of my history.--Paull 14:28, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

If I Never Knew Edit

How do you feel about the images that you wrote about? I felt mad because I never knew that Puerto Ricans would ever have other people in slaves. I thought that us Puerto Rican was put as slaves, that we were the one surving to them.

What new information did you learn? I learned that people was so cruel that it got to the point of stamping people in the forehead to know who slave it was. That people did suicide in order to not do work any more. Some also sis suicide that way they wont have to kill them.--Cinthyag 14:28, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Social Issues Still Lingers Edit

The image that I have wrote about was very disturbing. I found it very hard to look at and it really bothered me. Looking at the young girl being hung by her ankle from a rope reminded me of a social issue we still have today. That social issue would be: Abuse on Females. Of course they might have had another reason for that act that they pulled but to me I thought deeper. This act should have never been comitted. It was wrong.

I learned about the captins name and what really went on on that ship. I also learned how old the young girl was and what was the main reason for the picture. When I read about it my heart sank. it was so weird to see that picture and never knew about it. It made me uncomfortable.

This impacted me greatly. I seen things that I would never seen. But it also porved to me that I was right. Women have been hurt in many way in many years. And i think it is going to take many more years before the abuse and hurt stop for females.--Sabrinav 14:29, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Trade Gallery Edit

I think that the Triangular Trade Gallery was good and they should keep doing it but what I felt was not good is the Africans trading with the Europeans for slaves. --Lindellc 14:32, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

This Country is where racism started Edit

  • I feel that the image I wrote about was very mean and cruel.
  • I learned that the African slave come to America doing the same work the Tainos where doing.
  • This make me feel like racism is a big impact to this world and this make me feel like the country I am living at right now was once people here being treated like slave.

I learned that black people fought back. They wrer sick and tired of being used.

It has been a impact to my life because i never knew there was a trade triangle which makes me want to study more on it.It matters to me because I get to learn more and more about history.

Sad moment Edit

I felt sad because if i was born during that time that could of have been me standing there ready to be sold. i learned that at any time you don't know what can happen. this picture has a scared impact on my life because i wonder can this happen again in the day of age?--AlysiaD 18:58, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Wrong Edit

I feel bad for the two African Americans who were totured in the bed. That's very wrong to do. They are helpless and miserable. I learned more about how the African Americans were totured. I learned a different way they were totured. This impacted on my life greatly because now I know what happened to African Americans in the past.

The Ship Edit

I feel that it is wrong to put so many people onto one ship. I learn that turning people into slaves just becuase they r different from them is wrong. This may have many impact for me.

Freedom For Money Edit

I feel bad for all those people who had to go through all of that just because people were money ungry and because they were different. It makes me feel upset that know one stood up for these people that were of a different race. I learned that these people suffered more than hwat were told a long time ago. They were put through more horible work, and weere killed just for money. I learned that people's freedom and lives were taken away so that the Europeans would be rich. --Anaisq 18:58, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

How I Feel About Slavery Edit

I felt that it was very cruel to have a lot of slaves inside one small room that u can't even sit up in.

The knew stuff that I learned was that they had really big slaves boat. Also I learned that a lot of slaves was inside the boat

The impact this has on me is that I feel sad about the slaves that got tortured in the boats

Slavery Edit

I feel that they were so powerfull and that they really show how life was as a slave.I learned that somethimes tha kids had to help there parnet work in what ever the owner said. The picture had an impact on me because I have never seen people like that and there kids just standing there having to watch. This matters to me because I feel really bad for them.

Slavery gone Bad! Edit

The way I feel about the images I wrote about was more then one main feeling but a specific feeling I felt was sympathy. Questions that were going through my head is what would I do if there was someone like the Europeans in New York City? Would I just do what they say or would I fight for every part of my rights. I wish slavery never exist. The new information I learned these past few days is really crazy about slavery. One important fact I learned was Slavery wasn't about race it was about power.the impact this situation has towards my life is would I ever makke someone go through slavery? No.......Helll Nooo ....Why????? Because theirs no real reason to make anyone my slave they might as well unit with me and be my friend.--Jazmines 18:59, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

The Trade Edit

I feel that what they did to the African American was wrong. How they treated thema and how and what they used them for. This matters to me because I see how they were treated.

Feelings about the Triangular Trade Edit

I felt really bad because while we take all of the sugar and other things for granted other people end up dead for a cup of sugar. I learned that the slaves were sold in europe and killed making crops. I will never take sugar for granted again.--Kevinc 18:59, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Feeling's about The images Edit

I feel that they treated the Black men and women wrong because they we're not even just right their stuff was all out. This picture that I was writing about made me feel that the white men had no feelings for those who are walking bear-footed and they had shoes on. I didn's really learn no new info on this subject. It was like me studying what I already learned. This is important to me because I need to know about my Black people's history and and how they were treated and how anyone else was treated back-down.

Slavery and the impact Edit

A lot of the images were really sad, but like the image I chose to write about it showed blacks revolting against whites which made me feel good.

Distrubantly Exotic Edit

The pictures that I have fixed up and view are so crazy. I never thought they were constantly treating the slaves this way by branding them and then seeing that the slaves retaliate. A Different Side in Slavery Edit

A Mother's Love Edit

It hurts to watch a mother have to give up her child forever. To let her see a white man grab her child with no care and sell it to strangers. To never watch her little boy or girl grow up and never hear them say "mommy". I would never be able to leave my mother to live with people make my life a living hell.--Elizabethv 14:05, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Women being Sold Edit

I feel that it was hard for women back then with slavery because they were sold to white men to be slaves. The make them do all the work and mistreat them. In the image I was studying there was a mother and a daugter being sold by white men. It wasn't right. --Sharinav 14:05, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

DR , PR questions Edit

I feel good about the images i felt, because i know that it was the best i could have done. I found out alot i didn't know about slavery through out pr, dr and the rest of the caribbean/west indian islands. I found that Spain was actually the ones to enslave theae islands and all along i thought it was europe. I also didn't know that Africans were brought there to be slaves, not only to europe and america.

Yesterday I was playing basketball. I was playing with boys. I think they play a better game than girls. They didn't care that I joined in.I also was thinking about my ex-botfriend for some reason.

The images that I wrote about today makes me feel sad because there where people that had to go trough this to get to were we are today and that is not right for people to have to go trough that because we are all human--Johnb 15:45, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Slavery's Impact on My Life Edit

This study on slavery and these images make me feel that I should be grateful for all the things I ahve and that I am not going through what the Tainos and Africans had to go through. Some new information that I learned was that slavery of the Africans started in 1508 and it was abolished from Puerto Rico in 1873.--Jonathanb@eschs.org 13:52, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

My Feelings on Images Edit

The images that I wrote about made me feel a little sad for the people on the ships. Having to be around hundreds of your own people butt naked is embarassing. They were also chained up to not be able to move. They weren't eating good. There were also people with kids with them on the boat who were probably crying and miserable because the mother could't do hardley anything for them. Then when they got seperated from families, that's heart breaking. --Ryane 13:56, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

A process comment Edit

Puerto Rican Slaves Edit

I feel that these images are very interesting and powerful and different people can see these images, but think that it has different meanings. I learned alot about slavery in Puerto Rico and how they were treated. This has a bit of an impact on me because I am Puerto Rican. It matters to me because I am Puerto Rican, and I feel That it is good to know the history of your background.

Who's the Blame? Edit

I felt really comfortable with the image that I was talking about. I learned alot about the origin of the trading of slaves and and how the Africans were enslaved and the restrictions of the whole process. I thought as i was reading that it was a shame that Africans sometimes had to be enslaved by their own people. I also learned that two Spanish monarchs named Ferninand and Isabella that granted the permission to the colonists to start to import slaves. The question that i wanted to ask was wsn't it enough that the Spaniards had the Africans captured why did theyhave to be shipped and sold like a bag of sugar? If African slaves were captured as worthless and uneducated mhy did it seem so important for people to sell them as if they were so valuable? Was it that they were only valuable in the process if being sold but not as a human being?

I feel that the image had nothing to do with this artical. I leand that according to historians the first black man to arrive on the island was in 1509.This really dosen't have that much of an impact on my life but I have leand useful information.

How do you feel about the images that you wrote about? What new information did you learn? What impact does this have on your life? Why does this matter to you?

I feel that those pictures have many things to say. They all have a different meaning to it. I learned that not only did the Americas get taken over by Columbus and his peoples but the Native Americans got forced into slavery. They were kicked out of their own land by people that were greedy for gold. --Naziak 13:57, 8 May 2006 (UTC) --Darleenu 13:57, 8 May 2006 (UTC)--Darleenu 13:57, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

When Christopher Columbus Met The Tainos Edit

I felt that it was wrong that Columbus arrives at an unknown island that he doesnt even know about with worst intentions. I learned that the population of the Tainos had started off at about 8 million but then over 100 years the population decreases at a huge amount. --Julisad 13:57, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Writting about a picture doens't change the way i feel or see a picture.I learned that slaves were branded on the forehead with a stamp so peple would know they were brought legally.Thats crazy. This means that most of the people had a stamp on their forehead. This doesnt affect my life because i dont know people that went through all this back then.It doesnt matter to me. What happened to those people already past so why should it matter now after they all died. How about we learn about something thats happening right now not 1000 years ago.

It matters to me because I am Puerto Rican, and I feel That it is good to know the history of your background.--Jessicao 13:58, 8 May 2006 (UTC)jessicao

Looking at the image makes me feel bad. Knowing that these people didn't have control over their own lives. And just because they were born a certain race or color they are beaten and made into slaves for the white men. I learned that Chistopher Colombus had African Americans with him when he first discovered discovered America for the Europeans in 1492. Slavery matters to me because it makes me more sensitive towards history. And I understand the rath many Afican Americans have about racism, segragation and slavery.--Elizabethv 13:58, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

The way I felt about the image I wrote about was anger. I was angry cuz it was easy for the British to beat hurt torture and rape the Africans.--Esinh 13:58, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Did your people die just because they traded with other countries? Edit

When I wrote about the image I picked I felt Proud that I was learning more about where I come from. I learned that they fought and died because spain didn't want them to trade with anyone else.--Christinapolanco 13:59, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Looking at the images I've seen in the triangular trade gallery have made me feel disappointed and upset. Just by looking at the pictures made me want to go backin time and fight for the Taino.

I always knew that the the Dominicans were some what black but now I have proof of my knowledge of this.--Ingridc 14:00, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
