[edit] Class Reflection

Dennis' M.M.K class has been based on one main thing in History. That one thing is Racism and Civil Rights in America. We've covered a few aspects of that since this class began, some being lynching in the south, support of African Americans in the south by the NAACP, the murder of Emmett Till, and the Montgomery Bus Boycott. in the process, since our teacher is so politcally informed, we've dabbled in current and recent issues in this country, as well as its relation to the past--Jeff140 16:31, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Class Reflections

This class has mostly been about Emmitt Till even though it is called Malcolm, King, and Kennedy but it deals mostly with Emmitt Till, lynching, and segregation. It has also been about Rosa Parks who sadly passed away and her modern civil rights movement with Dr. King. I think the main point of this class deals with Emmitt Till brutal lynching, to segregation in the southern states like Mississippi and South Carolina to Rosa Parks and as I said before the moden civil rights movement. I believe that all of this came from the Brown v. Board of Education that ruled "separate but equal" about the little girl who couldn't go to the all white school because she was black and how her father fought the system. -Walter Walker

[edit] Class Reflection

In this class i've learned a lot of things. However this class is a little about Civil Rights, Lynching, and segregation. Another thing that has been thought to me in this class was lies about history, whose telling you the truth about whats going on in our society. They say everything happens for a reason and to understand the present you have to know what has happened in the past.--KareemC 16:38, 2 March 2006 (UTC) another thing that was stated, was that Emitt Tills was a drunk. Not many people know this, but the 14 years old african american was the village idiot who slept with everybody in the town

[edit] Class Reflection

This class is about the truth, the truth of what has happen in history, and what has been hidden from us on our textbook. Lies about history. Who's telling you the truth and who's lying to you about what's going on and what has happen in history, and that history is a person's story which is not a fact is their opinion.--AlbertoA 16:35, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Class Reflection

My life has reflected on this class in a way that has been able to open my eyes more on the world. The more truth that is taught to me the more angles i view the world as well as my country and my city.I have been taught so far in this class about the negative in this country that has been done in the pass and how it has been "ok" to do it. This governments past makes up todays government. The gruesome pictures of Emitt Till shown ALL around the world and publish in all the newspapers as top headline of Emitt Till and the horrific lynching the 14 year old recieved by two white males in the racist State in the United state, Mississippi, let me know how my country was with racism in just the early 50's. More or less 8 yrs ago.--Ricardop 16:35, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Class reflection

So far this class has been based on a number of things. It's been about lynching, Emmett Till, Claudette Colvin, Rosa Parks, segregation, and the Civil Rights Movement. We've basically been talking about different sparks of the Civil Rights Movement. And how blacks were inferior to whites back then. Also how blacks were limited to their rights due to their skin color, when on the other hand a white people were free to do as they pleased. This class is the reality check of history it talks the truth not what you read in the history books, which most of the time isn't accurate.--NormaC 16:35, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] class reflection

So far, dennis' class has been very informative on Emmitt Til, The NAACP and mostly, The Civil Rights Movement. Its spark and overall just the way it started off, what caused it, who was a part of it, and how those people stood up collectively for their entire race. I'm sure as the class goes along we'll learn about more amazing men and women who put their lives on the line to ensure that the people who came after them would, just maybe, be able to live comfortably. chris nick

[edit] class refection

This class is based on Dr. Martin luther King, Malcom x, and John f. kenndy. We are studing on the assiantions on them. We are going to find out a numder of different ways they could have been killed by the government. As we go on we relate the government to today's life. We have been stduying the history of lynching. emmit til got lynched in mississippi, he was the spark that lead to the civil rights movement. We also learned about Claudette Colivn the teenager that gave Rosa parks the idea of not to give up her seat on the bus to a white person, then boycotted the buses. Nobody realy didn't know who she was but we read aout her. There are also people that did courageous things and they didn't get remembered for that and that's what we are reading about. we studied Richard Wright and his story. --Jasmine keitt 16:36, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Class Reflection

This class is about Malcolm, King and Kennedy but we havent spoke about any of them yet but the class is still interesting. We learned about Emmit Til and how he was lynched for whistling at a white woman. We also learned about Rosa Parks and how she refused to give up her seat for a white person and Claudette Colvin who was the first person to refuse to give up her seat. We also learn a lot about the 9-11 and the world trade although it has nothing to do with the class. Another thing i found interseting was the life for blacks in the south and how they had to live just to stay alive. Angelica Torres

This class is based on the civil rights movement. We have learned alot about Emmitt Till. We have studied the murder of Emmett Till, and how it lead to the civi rights movement. We have also looked at Richard Wright and how he had to deal with the Jim Crow laws. He went to alot of hardships and had to learn things the hard way. We have also talked about Claudette Colvin and her experiences. She went through the same thing that Rosa Parks went through. She was also forced to get up from her seat in the bus so a white person could sit on it. This class is really about Malcom X, Martin Luther King , and John F Kennedy. So far we haven't spoken about these people but Emmitt Tills murder lead to alot of events. It lead to Rosa Parks not givng up her seat, which made Martin Luther King more popular and etc. Emmitt Tills murder really started it all. --Ricky (Lefty) 16:36, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Class Reflection

This class makes you look deeper into the information that you are given, we look at eveything from different aspects and also makes you question about the imformation around you, well im running out of things to say and um yeah i dont want to type anymore anymore--Romeo18 16:36, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Class Reflection

So far this class has been about so many things, its hard to keep track sometimes on all these diffrent subjects. Other then that i have learned alot from Dennis' class, i find them very interesting. One of the first things i learnt about was Emmit Till befor this class i had no idea who he was or were he ame from. I learnt how he death change American History forever especially in the south. I also learnt about lynching and how brutal and cruel the white people were back then. Blacks were being lynched for no reason at all. I couldn't imagine how many people died and nothing was done about it. I also learned more interesting facts on jim crow and how blacks were treated more un fair and had so much fear in thier hearts that they didnt do nothing about it. Recently i learned about Claudette Colvin the first person to stand up for thier selves on a bus but since she was a child nothing happen no one took it seriously. Its been a great class so far. Zachary Smith

[edit] Class Reflection

The class malcolm, king, kennedy, isnt just about the people in its name ;its about what those people believed in and what shaped them into what we know them as today. Most importantly, the purpose of this class goes alot deeper than just those three famous figures in histroy. It is about digging deep to find the truth and learning how to question everything because everything you are told isnt always factual. Its about seeing things in a new lightand knwoing that there is almost always something youshould question. --L rexach 16:39, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Class Reflection

What we have done in Denni’s class was learn about the civil rights movement and how the fight for segregation started with the death of Emmitt Till and how that was the spark that fired the movement. We learned that Rosa Park was thinking about Emmitt when she sat on the bus. In class we learned about another young lady that also sat on the bus to show others how they can make a difference in segregation and her name was Claudette Colvin. We also read about people who lived through the Jim Crow era and how it was hard for them to be themselves with out getting killed. Stephanie

[edit] class reflection

So far this class has been about the cause and spark of the Civil Rights Movement, lynching, Emmitt Till, and segregation. We are going to be disscusing the assinations of these 3 great men, Matrin Luther King, Malcolm X, and President Jonh F. Kennedy. My teacher keeps it real and it not dum founded about the many issues going on in the world today. He tries to open students eyes and have them undertsand the facts and not what has been told. He is not based on books like other teachers, so that helps students understand him better. Futhermore, Dennis' clas is an eye opener to all who walk in and actually pay attention.--Tsmith 16:39, 2 March 2006 (UTC)tessy

[edit] Class Reflections

This class to me is about opening your eyes to see the world in another point of view. While in class we talk about things on the news that are suspious and try to answer questions that our government try to cover up. Lately we've been learning about the emmitt till murder in 1955 and wondering if his lynching wasn't so gresome because he was a young bot from the north would there still be segregation, lynchings, and more racism today. But he was the spark of the civil rights movement and without him there would have been no montgomery boycott by rosa parks.--Yoshi 16:39, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

So far in this class we have learned about lnyching, segregation and the civil right movement. We learned about how emmit Till was killed while he was in mississippi, just because he whistled at a white woman. This was one of the things that started the civil right movement. After his death hundred days later rosa parks refued to give up her seat on the bus to a white men, because she said she had emmit Till in mind. This helped Murthin Luther Kink Jr, with his work for freedom and to stop segregatiom between whites and blacks.--Winnih 16:42, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

This class is about the knowledge and the teachings of the history of slavery. We discuss lynchings and the torturous things black people went through. The real truth. The evil things white people did.Our professor Dennis, connects the past to the present. Slavery is an act of control and oppression tha goes on til this day.He explains how there isn't much difference. It is very important to learn about the past to understand the present. Like with the war going on and with President George Bush. And how in his hands our country might be in danger.

....yeah, 'cause our country is very good--Adriana.j Vargas 16:42, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

in this class we learning about the murder of Emmitt Till, and how it started the Civil Rights Movement. We began studying lynching across the United States. We read different articles based on lynching then we write our thoughts based on that article. We went more deeper into lynching by making tables based on highest years, most people lynched and top states that had the highest lynching.--Moe saleh 16:43, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

what i think about the class i think its better than mark class dennis explain his work more mark is just a borin you dont understand nothing he saying. dennis class is good becasuse he talks about the past and i like to learn about that. the best thing i learn about startin this class was emmit till i had never learn about him in the past so i was really into that.--Taniesha.R 16:41, 2 March 2006 (UTC)--Taniesha.R 16:45, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

This class has been about significant times in history that has affected us during this present time. We have talked about many great leaders and other people who were good and who have ought for a good cause. We have lso discussed many people who werent so good, who have done things that were wrong. We discused different past events of America and of other contries and the thngs that went on during those times. Dennis's class barley uses text boks we use our skills and knowldge we question things and then do our research. To me this history class is about finding the hidden information, and events that they dont put in the history tet books.--Antoinette C 16:48, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
