Do you know some ways overweight people are ridiculed because of their size? When overweight people walk down the street they often hear people calling them fat or sending signals that you can't fit in here. Some other ways they are discriminated against occur when they are trying to find a job or get into college. Also they have less opportunities than average size individuals because they are overweight.

[edit] Harder times finding a job
Overweight individuals have a harder time finding a job than average size people. Overweight people are discriminated by the way they look and not their ability for working:
"Overweight people are not hired as often as average size people and they are not promoted to better positions." [1]
The evidence proves that average size people get promoted to better jobs and are not discriminated against for their looks. Overweight people are discriminated against for the way they look and not their ability to work in many other ways:
"Overweight people are sometimes fired from their jobs because they are overweight and have to be sent to a weight loss program to get their job back."[2]
The evidence proves that overweight people are discriminated from jobs because of their body size.
[edit] Discrimination in the community
Overweight women have lower priorities than non-overweight women. Overweight women are discriminated by their size and not how they treat their communities:
"Overweight women are denied equal housing authorities than non-overweight women." [3]
The evidence proves that non-overweight women are given better houses than overweight women. Overweight women have lower income amounts than non-overweight women because of the way they look.
"Overweight women receive $67, 00 a year Less than non-overweight women." [4]
The evidence proves that overweight women are given lower money opportunities than non-overweight women.
[edit] Colleges discriminate too
Overweight students are not often accepted to colleges. Overweight students are discriminated their outside but not their ability of being smart:
"Overweight students are not accepted to some colleges because they are obese but can have good test scores." [5]
The evidence proves that students are not accepted by their ability of school work but by the way they look. Overweight students often have to pay their own way to college because of their image:
"Overweight students are more likely to pay their own way through college and sometimes can’t use their scholarships or college funds." [6]
The evidence proves that overweight students have to pay their own way through college because of their image.
[edit] It's their life
In conclusion, some individuals think that overweight people are not discriminated by average size people. Overweight people are discriminated from jobs, schools and they have lower opportunities than average size people. Well, now after reading my essay you learned some ways overweight people are discriminated against and how cruel people treat you because you look different.
People have always had a problem with their body image. If they don't have a lot of something they want to add if they have too much of something they want to take off. People always want to change the way they look. I doesn't matter how old or young they are. If you are old you want to look young, if you are young you want to look older and mature. Some teens are in such a rush to grow up. They put on a whole bunch of makeup and most of the time it's to impress a guy. Right now it's not the time to be thinking of your body image. It's time to hang out and to have fun with friends. No one really cares how someone looks. But if a person is fat let that person alone. They know and probably don't care what people think about them. It's their life and their body. No one has the right to be saying you're too fat or you're too skinny. They are just jealous and want to make you unhappy. Don't let them put you down.
