The second week of January 2005, the New York Jets played the Pittsburg Steelers in the AFC conference game. The Jets were a 9 point underdog to the Steelers. Everyone thought they were going to lose. The Jets lost that game, but it is because of the field goal kicker, Doug Brien. With 4 seconds to go in the fourth quarter, the Jets were on the Steelers 43 yard line. If he would have made this field goal, the Jets would have won the game. But for the Jets and coach Herm Edwards, he missed the game winning field goal. I think the need a new kicker, but they don’t need to get rid of the one they have now.

On the 18th of January the New York Jets fired there offensive coordinator Paul Hackett, then they announced the hiring of Mike Hemierdinger to take his place as offensive coordinator. The Jets blamed him for their loss the Saturday before. The Jets did not have a productive offense this year. They did not have one last year either. I think the best offensive they had was when Chad Pennington was a rookie.
