What is this?Edit

In this picture the slaves are being mistreated by swords and spears. The Spanish are killing the slaves. The guy that is sitting in the chair looks like he is the owner of the slaves, and has more power over everybody there. Thats why he is not doing anything. He is just watching while his people are punishing and torturing the slaves. As you can see in the picture the slaves are naked and have nothing to fight or defend themself with thats why the spanish are taking advantage of that and making the slaves look like their race is supirior. Another thing that is shown in this picture is the way they are treating the slaves it seems like they are trying to capture them.

It seems like the colored people are being captured. Some are being hit, some are being arrested. There is a man sitting right in the middle of everything. He has his guards with him. And he’s just sitting there as if nothing is happening. He doesn’t even feel bad that he is taking away peoples freedom. He’s taking away the right for colored people to live, and he’s sitting there. As if he’s on vacation.

What do we know about it?Edit

This image fits into the story of Triangular Trade because this image shows how the spanish conquered the indians this is part of the Traingular Trade because the trade is about what happened while they were trading goods for people. This image was one of the first pictures that displayed the punishments and spanish crualty that were being given to black slaves for not obaying thier masters. This is a image that Theodor DeBry drew of stories he was told.
