Cimaronnes were Africans who had escaped slavery and lived in the forests and mountains of the Caribbean and South America. Cimarrones rule their own community. They were a constant threat to Spanish colonist because they made supply raids on settlers' farms and gave aid to other escaping Africans and Taino.
